Our Niagara award winning wines

In our earlier years we entered our wines in the Toronto Wine & Cheese show. Included in the Awards of the Toronto Wine and Cheese Show were "Best of Show" for our Regal Black Currant, dry style in 2002, 2004, 2006, 2007 and 2008. As the Toronto Wine and Cheese show competition was discontinued, we’ve chosen to enter the All Canadian Wine Championships for the past two years, to view how we fared please follow the links below.

Some of our earlier farm family highlights include "Business of the Year" in 1992 by the Milton Chamber of Commerce. In 1994 Bert was inducted into the "Hall of Honour" at Norwood District High School. Also in 1994, the Andrews’ family (Lauraine, Bert, Angela, Kurtis and Valerie) were chosen "Farm Family of the Year" by the Halton Region Federation of Agriculture. In 2001, Scotch Block Winery was chosen as "Entrepreneur of the Year" by the Halton Hills Chamber of Commerce.

Premier's Award

In 2012/2013 Andrews' Scenic Acres was awarded a Provincial Premier's Award for Agri-Food Innovation Excellence. The January 2013 headline article in the Ontario Farmer read, "Andrews' Scenic Acres sees 15,000 students ayear.
The operation spans 600 acres of cropped land with 165 of these acres devoted to fruits and vegetables, all in the hustle and bustle of the GTA.

In 2008 MPP Steve Peter, speaker of the house at Queen’s Park initiated a new fruit wine tradition. For the first time ever, a competition was held to select fruit wines for serving at the Legislative Assembly of Ontario. Similar to events of the past that have resulted in the VQA wine menu at Queen’s Park, a close fruit wine competition resulted in Scotch Block Winery’s fruit wine being chosen as one of only three fruit wines to make the list. Our Oak Aged Black Currant Wine and our Black Raspberry Wine were fortunate to be chosen for serving at special events at Queen's Park for 2008-2010.

Also in 2008, Scotch Block Winery achieved the most awards of any winery ever at the prestigious Toronto Wine & Cheese Show. Scotch Block Winery felt very humble in sweeping "Best of Show" in all three fruit wine categories for a total of 11 medals. That included Regal Black Currant – Dry, Oak Aged Black Currant – Off Dry and Framboise, raspberry in Dessert style category. Other award winners in 2008 included Regal Red Currant, Regal White Currant, Regal Ribes, Raspberry Rouge and Raspberry Truffle.

Don't wait for a "Special Day", make any "Day Special" with one of our Award Winning Wines!
