About Scotch Block
Bert in front of Scotch Block Winery  Scotch Block is one of Halton's best kept secrets. Those who visit our 10th Sideroad Winery will be treated to a sampling of wonderful wines, ranging from dry fruit and grape wines, to ice and dessert wines. The name "Scotch Block Winery" was chosen as a tribute to the Scottish settlers who in 1820 were the first European immigrants to survey and settle in Esquesing Township, Halton County.
Scotch Block Winery is nestled in the area known as Scotch Block - an area of rich, fertile, rolling farmland of which the scenic Niagara Escarpment is a breathtaking backdrop.
Laurie and Bert Andrews along with their young children Angela, Kurtis and Valerie established Andrews Scenic Acres in 1980. In 1999 it was decided the berry, sweet corn and pumpkin farm would take the new and exciting challenge of being the first farm winery in the Region of Halton.
It was a natural extension of our customer oriented business of supplying fresh and frozen strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, currants, gooseberries and elderberries. We also grow limited tree fruit areas of apples, cherries, pears, plums.
Our newest challenge is the vineyard of winter hardy French Hybrid grapes. Bert says, "to make excellent quality wine you must start with excellent quality fruit". "The only way to be assured of excellent quality fruit for batch after batch of wine is to grow the fruit yourself".

Only minutes from Acton, Georgetown, Milton, Mississauga, Oakville, Burlington, Etobicoke, Erin, Rockwood, Hillsburgh and Toronto - come find out what everyone is talking about. Located in our Mennonite constructed farm building at Andrews Scenic Acres.

Our Winemaker

"I was so happy with the success of the first batch of "Obsession" Black Currant Port Style, that we needed to make a second batch.  There is more great news.  As well as the new "Obsession" there is "Passion", an Iced Wine Style of Black Currants.  Besides our vast array of currant wines, we have seven different unique raspberry wine styles. For anyone who likes raspberries and chocolate, both "Raspberry Truffle" and "Framboise Truffle" are a must try.

Creating all of these unique wines from fruit grown at Andrews Scenic Acres is both challenging and rewarding.  Growing fruit, fermenting, bottling and selling fruit and grape wines at Scotch Block Winery is truly a team effort.  Bert says, I appreciate all of the dedicated effort and hard work that every team member put into making Scotch Block Winery a first for the Region of Halton.  Consistency is one of the biggest things we strive for here at the farm, and is also the greatest challenge for even the most famous winemakers in the world, but when one opens up a bottle of Scotch Block Wine and enjoys it, it is all worth while".

Our two winemakers Terry Rayner and Paul de Lestard are watching over the aging process of our 2008 grape fermentation. I really believe the grape wines, when they are ready, will be second to none.
